Learn how to evaluate protocol adherence for subsequent training targeting areas for improvement
1. Introduction
Maintaining protocol adherence is key to the prevention and control of the menace of medical error. In this sense, being able to quickly assess the degree of compliance of your organization's calls is a key concern of EMS organizations.
This HOW-TO requires access to the Call Search View, part of the Dashboard Module.
2. Step-by-step guidance
To evaluate protocol adherence using Call Search, follow the steps below:
- Identify the terms and phrases that are part of your target protocol. Input these terms into a query, with each separate protocol question in a different search field. If there are multiple ways to ask the same question, you can type these alternatives in the same line.
- Add a protocol name filter, choosing the protocol name that matches the questions you have written in the search fields.
- If relevant, adjust the time frame to analyze by using the calendar icon “relative range”, above the search field.
- Click on search - Corti will now search for these terms through all your calls from the selected time range, and will return a list of calls. Call list will show a list of all of the calls that matched for any one of the query lines. Already then, you can identify calls that are more of less compliant to your target protocol.
- [PENDING FUNCTIONALITY] Export your search results as CSV. The CSV will show a list of all of the calls (each row) that matched for any one of the query lines (each column)
- Export a list of cases that used your target protocol from your triaging software, and compare the list in Excel.
- You can now segment your calls into fully compliant (the call used the target protocol and each term was detected in the question); partially compliant (only some of the questions were detected); or non-compliant (none of the questions were detected).
- Save the query for easy ongoing analysis.
